We have not done a lot of international travel together, but that will, we hope, change.
Independently, Peter has traveled to Japan and Malaysia. Early in our married life we traveled to Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok (before kids).
We traveled to Tasmania, and drove along the Great Ocean Road prior to the 2011 January Floods.
Our first (after kids) international trip took in London, Paris, driving around the UK then a stopover in Singapore – we had a fantastic time.
We have traveled to Melbourne – for us a great getaway, and we now add it to our list of favorite places to visit (along with Sydney).
In 2015 we travelled overseas again, taking in Istanbul and Gallipoli in Turkey, Lucca and Rome in Italy, Athens and Santorini in Greece finishing up in Lyon and Paris, France.
In 2019 We travelled to Vietnam and Cambodia – we wanted an overseas food experience and to explore the vast temples of Angkor Wat. It was awesome but sooooooo hot and humid. We were gearing up for another Europe trip and then … the Covid 19 Pandemic hit, and that put our travel and retirement plans on hold until 2023.
We have now retired, so can plan some more overseas travel – post-pandemic travel is… complex, but we are determined to explore places distant while we can still stand the long haul flights. Planning the journey is half the fun, we can travel more now our kids are independent adults.
