I saw a photo sequence of a tessellation that was fashioned into a box and knew I had to try it:

Well, I say tessellation, but really this is just one molecule, but it is none the less beautiful.

Folded from a triangle grid on a hexagon, the collapse is a bit of a mindfuck because you do it on the reverse side then turn it over to see a lovely 3d star.

I will probably fold this again – I can see how you could fold the base of the box, but am content with the lig, because it is the pretty bit really.
