My favourite on-screen monarch of all time is Miranda Richardson’s character “Queenie” from “The Black Adder II”:
She portrayed an incredible mix of insanity, toddler and antichrist which will always make me giggle.
This is Mark Kirscenbaum’s Queen, arguably the most dangerous and flexible piece on the board, and suitable protector of the head of the monarchy, coming soon.
I can see that his chess set could be folded with 15cm origami paper and the pieces would be playable on a standard board – clever consistent design ensures all pieces look like they belong together, are easy to pick up, stand proud and are shaped appropriately so you can recognise the pieces mid-battle.
