Sometimes a simple crease pattern leads to some interesting emergent geometry:
This is Charles Santee’s “Star Block”, a 2 part modular that I found when trolling among Origami USA’s “The Fold” issue #22.
Based on 1/8ths, 45 and 22.5 degree folds, this simple solid offers glimpses into other possible applications of the corrugation.
Folded from 2 sheets cut from A4 pages, I like the light play on this shape.
Not sure the locking mechanism is very positive, also not sure how it could be improved, based on the intense creasing in the middle.
Interesting model none the less.
