Interestingly (for me), I have had goldfish over the years. At one stage I had a tank with 3 of these in it – Blackmoors – lovely plump little goggle-eyed black goldfish:
I remember as they got sicker, they became less black until, as they floated upside down ready to be scooped and flushed to an early grave they were almost a deep purple colour.
A striking fish, cute and intense fold (this, my first attempt is messy caused in part from a not quite square and fish-folding fatigue) with lovely bulbous eyes and a rich collection of fins.
The triangle-base makes for some very dense folding in the finishing stages, even at this enormous scale, so making them small requires the patience of a saint and really thin paper so I am not sure of this model’s suitability to Project F, but it is interesting none the less.
This finishes my foray into fishy folds – from here I will decide on the 4 or 5 that will be used in a faux aquarium display, using lovely paper.
One can only marvel at the design brilliance of Ronald Koh – I can see the morphological similarities and now understand the base/layering techniques used, applauding him on his attention to detail.
